Don’t Hold Your Breath…Clean with Greens!
June 27, 2008You wouldn’t live with dirt and germs all over you floors, bathroom, and kitchen would you? So why treat your home’s air supply any differently? Don’t breathe in a dangerous mess! Modern building air, due to materials and construction processes, can contain nasty pollutants like formaldehyde, benzene, and carbon monoxide. How do you avoid this? Well, strategically used houseplants are like vacuums and disinfectant for your atmosphere, but a lot nicer to look at! Many people have reported that adding plants to their workplaces or homes has relieved their headaches and other health issues. Better yet, research (much of it by the ultra-credible NASA) has determined which houseplants are most effective at “scrubbing the air”; the top three beautiful cleaners are featured above. Use a mix of plants because each one has special cleaning capabilities. Generally, two or three plants per eight to ten square feet of floor space is sufficient.
