Organic Cooking: A Green Indulgence

April 15, 2010

Organic foods can bring one or two things to mind; cost and taste. Anna Getty, chef and TV personality, has a new cookbook called “Easy Green Organic” which includes hundreds of organic recipes and ways to buy cheap, fresh, organic produce from local farmers. After viewing the video, the food looks delicious and Anna makes organic look indulgent. Also, there are tips in the book to make your kitchen green by using eco-friendly appliances and sustainable products.

PUMA’s Thinking Outside The Box

April 14, 2010

Have you ever thought of how many trees are wasted from the production of shoe boxes? Some people don’t even keep shoes boxes a week after their new purchase. PUMA has taken a step toward decreasing their carbon foot print and erased the shoe box from the packaging of it’s customized footwear. I must say the mini recycled tote bag is absolutely chic and a great way store shoes. It’s a much more eco-friendly product than a cardboard box. Team has put all of the info about their collaboration with Fuse Project for the sustainable product into this promo video.

Surf’s Up!

April 13, 2010

Eco-friendly, casual menswear collection Loomstate has designed a collection for Bloomingdale’s Surf Lodge. The collection includes eco-friendly t-shirts and other sustainable apparel. The collection will also help benefit the Surfrider Foundation. I’m enjoying the fact that eco-friendly apparel is going way beyond imprinted t-shirts and recycled t-shirts. It allows people to be stylish as well as give back to others while doing so.

Branch Boutique: An Eco-Friendly Shopping Experience

April 5, 2010

Recently I’ve been exploring many of the options for sustainable fashion out there. I know that there are way more brands available than what I’ve come across and it seems that someone else has taken notice. Branch Boutique, founded by Deirdre Holbrook, is an online boutique dedicated to selling only eco-friendly products. There are many designers out there that are creating customized apparel and customized jewelry from natures goods. Those eco-friendly designs can now be found at a one-stop shop. The boutique will feature 20 of the top designers per season. Expect to see more than customized t-shirts and recycled tote bags. The possibilities are endless!

Cleaning House with Ocean Animals

April 2, 2010

Earth Choice’s ad to save the aquatic life and use their eco-friendly product is so realistic it’s scary. Images of people using starfish as sponges and octopus as mops is a sad sight to see. I mean I’ve heard of customized kitchen products, but goodness! It goes to show that the smallest daily activity can affect the life of a whole species, more specifically sea animals. The imagery in this commercial is spectacular. All of the animals look real and the actors have to get kudos as well. They look like it’s the norm to use a duck to plunge the toilet or a manta ray as a shower sponge; right! After seeing this commercial I surely want to use Earth Choice’s products and go to the aquarium.

Swedish Hasbeen: Braided Sky Highs

March 31, 2010

It seems as though fashionistas are showing that they can go “green” without compromising their flare. Swedish Hasbeen, an eco-friendly Swedish line, is taking the Spring fashion scene by storm with their Braided Sky Highs. It’s a line of clogs, which are all the rave for this Spring and Summer, that are eco-friendly and look more wearable than their high-fashion counterparts. I think many people take for granted the things that can be done while saving the environment. Eco-friendly clothing doesn’t just mean customized t-shirts and recycled tote bags; it can be anything!. Mother Earth wants to look good so why shouldn’t we while saving her?

Safe Sex Pitches In to Save the Planet

March 29, 2010

Sir Richards is taking customized condoms to another level! Their line of women and gay friendly condoms is set to hit shelves this summer. What makes them more eco-friendly then the next latex manufacturer? For every condom purchased they are donating one to a developing country. Also, the packaging for the condoms (not the actual latex) is recycled and they are looking to embed wildflower seeds in the box (talk about promotional planting!). Safe sex can help save the world after all!

PETA and Octomom Team Up

March 26, 2010

“Octomom” Nadya Suleman has recently made a deal with PETA to post their ad for spaying and neutering pets on her lawn. The ad reads “ Don’t let your dog or cat become an “Octomom”. Always spay or neuter”. Wow! Even though the word choice is quite amusing, the issue is very important. I want to cry every time I see stray dogs or cats on the street with their offspring or pregnant. Those who own pets should take heed as well. Selling the litter is way easier than giving birth to it. Not only did “Octomom” get a $5000 check, but she also gets a months supply of veggie burgers and dogs. I’m sure they also threw in a few promotional t-shirts and logoed toys for the children. Way to go PETA and Octomom!

One Man’s Trash Is Another Man’s Treasure

March 25, 2010

Canadian fashion house Preloved is turning the old into the new! By using reclaimed khakis, raincoats, and other pieces they are producing their Spring 2010 collection. Now Preloved fans can look good while helping Mother Nature! A customized t-shirt would surely look good with a lightweight skirt from the collection. Being an eco-friendly shopper is always in style.

We Are Really the World

March 23, 2010

Mother Nature is the creator of all things living and breathing. Humans, animals, and plants alike. This ad for the Foundation Nicholas Hulot is not only thought provoking, but touching. I didn’t know that leaving the light plugged up or on when I have no need for it could kill a dolphin. Now I know that it would be smarter to put my promotional candle to use. Many of us go on with our daily lives not thinking about how minor things that slip our mind can kill off a whole species.
