Here is a really cool promotional tote bag that Ford has been sending out.
This bag is actually made from the same eco-friendly recycled material used as upholstery on the seats inside the Ford ESCAPE.
It’s hard to believe that this gorgeous work of art was created entirely out of trash! Greenpeace created it to promote recycling. The promotion (and website featured) actually appeared in Poland but the USA Greenpeace site is very informative. Definitely Check it out. For those who don’t know much about Greenpeace, it’s a hugely influential environmental activism organization that has networks spanning the globe.
Two years from now, shopping in LA is going to undergo a big change. Starting July 1, 2010, plastic shopping bags will be banned from stores, leaving customers to pay twenty-five cents for a paper variety or better, bring reusable bags from home. The city expects that the change will greatly reduce clean-up costs for litter in the town’s rivers; plastic bags make up a huge portion of marine debris. San Francisco, leading the green way as usual, already passed and implemented ban.
Recently an ad popped up in my (eerily omniscient) Facebook advertising box: “Go Green with At&T Refurbished Phones!”. I clicked but alas, internet explorer closed out and the aforementioned ad disappeared forever. The incident, however, reminded me that I still had two old cell phones in my drawers. After researching my many options (click for a great overview), I ultimately decided to give my phones to a the nonprofit Collective Good. Not only am I avoiding contributing to landfill junk, but my phones will help someone in need one day.
If you’re interested in protecting the environment, then you’ve probably heard a lot about the horrors of plastic and plastic bags. However, you may have not heard of an upcoming solution: Plantic. Plantic is a starch-based, eco-friendly material that is currently being developed out of Australia. Plantic is not only made from renewable resources and biodegradable, but it also fully dissolves in water….you can even eat it if you really want to! Currently plantic is being used for various types of food crates (like Nestle’s latest Dairy Box chocolate range ) and more applications will probably emerge soon (such as plantic instead of plastic bags). Keep looking for more Plantic news, and in the mean while, avoid plastic. 
This recycling bin is certainly an eye-catcher, and encourages kids to recycle on the playground. Given the wide-spread prevalence of water/soda and other beverage bottles in kid’s lunches, funny bins like this can save a lot of plastic! Plus, they’ll make kids aware of the importance of recycling at young, impressionable ages.
Here’s a pretty cool product, eco-wipes. They’re recycled fiber sanitary towels that expand when you add water, making them super convenient. 50% pre and 50% post consumer recycled fiber content makes them a great alternative to non-recycled paper towels, and they’re small enough to take with you anywhere!
