Eco-friendly Promos

Yup, you read that right. Eco-friendly Funerals are now available for those of you who want to save the planet even after death. While it’s an interesting concept, I’m not sure a cardboard coffin is the right sentiment for moving on to whichever after-world you believe in.

However, if you are a green loving person and happen to be looking for a burial idea, then you might want to arrange yourself something called a natural burial. The idea is to use only biodegradable products and avoid embalming. That way by planting native trees on the plot, everything will decompose and the land will thrive, eventually creating a public garden for everyone to use.

I guess that’s a new way to go green. Forget reusable mugs and eco-friendly jotters. Now we’re playing with the big dogs.

I love this creative advertisement! What a unique take on the ‘carbon footprint’, and it really makes you think- what is my carbon footprint? I like that it’s colored green for the green movement. But more importantly, I hope it was made from eco-friendly paint.

For smaller promotions that don’t involve paint, I’m a big fan of eco-friendly ink. You can get notebooks with soy-based ink lines on the paper or coasters that are printed with organic ink. Decrese your carbon footprint just during the printing and promotion process. Every step reduces your carbon footprint!

There’s finally an eco-friendly alternative for all of us t-shirt lovin’, canvas carrying people of the world! Done are the days of pesticide saturated cotton production. Now we have organic cotton, pesticide free and ready to go!

The first time I heart about organic shirts I did a double-take. Organic, as in, edible and pesticide free? Well, needless to say all things organic aren’t food related In fact, none of these products are, but that doesn’t change the fact they’re super awesome!

Newton Running found a solution to the age old shoe packaging problem. Instead of wasteful cardboard boxes filled with tissue paper, they worked hand in hand with several design companies to come up with a snug fitting shoe box. The design itself eliminates excessive use of materials but it’s also made entirely out of post-consumer materials (and recyclable!).

To top it off, Newton decided to eliminate paper stuffing entirely. Instead they stuffed each shoe with a reusable shoe bag and pair of socks. That way the product will stay looking sharp no matter how rough the shipping!

Now that’s what I call eco-friendly.

Your competitors may be promoting themselves with biodegradable goods and eco-friendly products but there’s always a way your company can take the green trend one step further.

Don’t just prevent more waste- instead be proactive and grow something beautiful! Plants not only contribute clean oxygen to the atmosphere but are said to contribute to positive feng shui in a room and increase happiness for people who live alone. So spread the good cheer and promote your company or organization with potted plants and growing kits!

I saw an excellent promotion for SinuPret using plants. They set up a booth and let children plant their own plants right on site. It attracted visitors to the booth and tied into their allergy medicine. No need to shy away from outdoor activities when allergies are no longer an issue!

I loved the idea and now I recommend it to everyone. What a fun way to get your logo out there for everyone to see!

I had to do a double take when I saw it:  “Elephant Poo Bound Notebook“.

Excuse me?

Yes, that’s correct, it’s an Elephant Poo notebook. Made with real, bona fide, elephant dung- perfect for all your promotional needs.

Apparently the dung is processed over and over again. Then the massive amounts of fiber that survive the intestinal tracts of a full grown elephant are re-purposed into cute little notebooks and jotters. However, the website boasts beautiful 100% recycled papers (odorless, too!).

And part of me can’t stop laughing, because it’s one of the most creative and eco-friendly products I’ve ever heard of. But one I’m not sure I’d ever want to use.

Take a minute to look around your living room or desk. How many objects are running on battery power? If you’re like most people there are probably at least three battery powered devices within an arm’s reach of you at any given moment, remote controls, cameras, phones; all of it is contributing to the 15 billion batteries used every year.

Now think about all the harmful chemicals inside each battery. Small amounts of mercury and lead can leak out of a used battery and into the ground, polluting the environment.

Which is why rechargeable batteries are getting so much attention. Not only do rechargeables limit waste, but they are often made without harmful chemicals. So when it is time to toss them you can still sleep easy.
